How often in a deal negotiation do you just stop —- pause —- wait — breathe ?
The other side will be confused. Maybe lose the control they think they had in the meeting.
Often a smile helps.
Re clarification of their argument or proposition. When negotiating never be in a hurry. Often the deal is very valuable, maybe a life changing event.
Take your time. Let the other side feel the pressure.After all neither side would be seeking a deal if it wasn’t valuable to each party.
The use of silence – can take the steam out of the situation.
Thirty seconds is not a long time but appears an age. It gives you time to think and make a better deal.
